Keeping It Cool and Casual

The weather is constantly changing during winter so I’ve stocked up on basics for maternity wear that I can layer AND wear after pregnancy! This top fits the bill for casual, cute, great for layering, and perfect to wear after delivery. Yes please! (Plus, it’s on sale!)

I have continued wearing these jeans by Jessica Simpson throughout pregnancy with the help of my belly band (life.saver.!) To keep with the casual look I wore these shoes by Clarks that I scored at Blue Ribbon Shoes in Decatur, AL (my hometown). Get this – shoes at this store are about 70% off of retail and it’s a gold mine for shoe lovers! If you ever get the chance to stop in, do it!

Hope everyone has a wonderful week! We’re at 32 weeks this week and I am getting so so so excited for Halle!

28 Week Bump Update

It’s here! The third trimester – aka crunch time. I am THRILLED to welcome a baby girl into our lives in March. We are over the moon and already feel like she’s with us between the moving around and feeling her kick everyday to the doctors appointments becoming more and more frequent.

My ultimate hope for Halle is that she will be kind, caring, and loving. People ask me all of the time “do you hope she’s a girly girl who loves clothes?” I don’t care if she likes clothes or not, or if she prefers dance over field hockey, but I hope and pray daily that she is a joy to others and that she loves Christ from an early age.

She is already such a joy in our lives and I pray she lights up a path wherever she goes. I want her to know that kindness is the post important quality and what you wear does not matter. That you can do anything you set your mind to and to take a leap of faith even when it is scary.

Mom and Dad will be right there to catch you, sweet angel.

Baby It’s (not really) Cold Outside

Temps in Alabama were crazy for Christmas, but we are all used to that by now. We headed down to Alabama last Thursday and spent time with family and had a wonderful time. Now, to get back in the swing of things and take down the Christmas tree-sad. I’m currently sitting by the tree soaking up the last few days of Christmas decorations all while wearing my Work the Metal This Girl Loves Christmas t-shirt.

I wore this outfit before we left and it was cozy and kept me warm. The temperatures this week will be back down so I’ll take advantage of this go to poncho to cover up my 28 week bump!

Christmas Cards

”Tis the season for Christmas cards! One of my favorite parts about Christmas is giving and receiving fun cards during the holiday season. I love seeing everyone else’s card, it brings me so much joy!

We used Maggie Tait Photography {she’s awesome!} and decided to take our pictures outside in Anchorage. The leaves were falling and it was a beautiful fall day.

For the cards I went with Vistaprint again this year {hello discounts!} I usually search by number of pictures and I like to put “Merry Christmas” on the card so I narrow it down and find my favorite. Vistaprint is offering 50% off cards right now with code “bestgifts” so if you haven’t ordered yours yet – you still have time!

My outfit is from Work The Metal and boots are Steve Madden (from a few years ago) similar here. Shop my jewelry online at Sincerely Quinley {dot} com!

Buffalo Check

With the holidays right around the corner I’m pulling out all the vests, buffalo plaid, and boots my heart can handle! Thanksgiving is such a special time to gather with friends and family and remember what is really important: people. I hope you and your family have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Everyday Distressed Denim

This weekend I have plans to relax, eat soup, and cozy up during this cold spell. These jeans from Old Navy are a favorite (this style from last year, linked similar) and I feel like grabbing them every other day. Plus, when outfits are this comfy it is hard not to wear them all of the time. My top from Ellie Clothing is a great piece for me to grow in to. I have noticed a bump over the past couple of weeks but I’m still in that “is she pregnant or did she gain weight” stage. To dress this look up from completely casual to cute and stylish I paired these shoes from Old Navy, bracelet stack and necklace from Sincerely Quinley.

Here’s to fall weather finally arriving, pumpkin patches, and cozy outfits. Have a great weekend!

Denim Jacket

I finally found a denim jacket that is both soft and structured but not too boxy or too big. Who knew it would be such a hard task to find? It is.

I paired my new jacket with these all time favorite black distressed skinnies from Old Navy and boots by Frye

Transitioning from summer to fall is one of the hardest transitions for most people. It’s HOT then it feels good. You want to look cute now in your fall finds but can’t handle the heat with the layers. I have paired this denim jacket with a dress, shorts/top and I’ll be incorporating it for the remainder of the summer and into the fall.

Let Freedom Ring

As we all take a moment to celebrate Freedom with friends and family, I wanted to share with you a few favorites I’ll be wearing for the upcoming holiday.

What’s a long weekend without a few refreshments? Sadly for me (it’s actually not SO bad), I am participating in the Whole30 program so the sweet treats and alcoholic drinks will have to take a backseat for a while. Excuse me while I sip my white ginger tea and munch on my blueberry/strawberry combo.

Whenever I have a relaxing weekend I usually throw on denim shorts like these or these

Friday and Saturday @ The Tracks

If you live in Louisville, heck anywhere for that matter- you know the Kentucky derby is coming. Here in town it’s all derby-talk, who’s wearing who, hat vs fascinatior, and whether or not you’ll have a mint julep or a lily come Oaks Day.

What to wear for derby 101: something I had to quickly learn last year upon moving to his wonderful city. When you become a Louisvillian (whether born into it or whether you move here fresh out of another town) you quickly learn about “the derby”. First up I have Blu Boutique, a boutique with style, passion, uniqueness and class. I’ll be showcasing two looks, one appropriate for Oaks Day and one appropriate for Derby Day

Casual and cute is my motto for spring. These shoes make a statement while the dress keeps it casual.

A bold blue necklace against the white dress proves that a touch of color is all you need. This necklace can be worn as is – wrapped once or long and simple with your favorite tank + white jeans or a cute solid or printed dress.
