Spring {Dress}ing

Dressing for spring weather can be at times impossible. Last week I spent half the day with the heater on in my car and the other half with the windows down enjoying the awesome weather. We all know spring temps are crazy so why not add in a few dresses like this one to solve your problem. Old Navy has always been a favorite of mine but lately (the past couple of years or so) they’ve been killing it with trendy affordable (and super cute) clothing. This dress and these shoes are both affordable and effortless (easy decision, right?).

I have a couple of concerts on the calendar in the next few of months so you better believe I’ll be repeating this look for one of them. Hopefully I’ll have a TAN before then 🙂

Have a perfect Sunday and enjoy your week. Tomorrow is Monday and it is a chance to enjoy what you do- make the most of it! I’m excited, are you?

Polka Dots

It’s time to talk derby. Louisville hosts the Kentucky Derby each year in May and with just three short weeks left until the big day I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite derby-themed looks. My dress is from Work the Metal and it’s the perfect derby look because you can wear ANY color fascinator or hat with black/white polka dots.
I have made several custom bangle designs for the derby this year and I love how they look together. From the “run for the roses” theme to the jockey and horse combo you can’t go wrong with these one of a kind bangles. Add in a little state pride with the Kentucky bangle and you’ve got yourself the perfect combo for derby day.

Where to find these bangles if you live in or around Louisville? (Or heading this way the first weekend in May)

Check out these stores below to find your favorites OR order here

Work The Metal/Butchertown
BLU Boutique/Middletown
The Urban Farmhouse Market/Crescent Hill
Dress and Dwell/New Albany

Have a great weekend and GET READY y’all! Derby is coming!

Cozy Knitted Sweater + Distressed Denim

I love a good cozy oversized sweater when the temps start to drop. Mixed with black distressed denim from Old Navy (sold out, similar here) this new chunky knitted sweater was the perfect option for a cool weekend. We spent this weekend relaxing and enjoying our favorite hobby- eating. My birthday was yesterday so we had one of my favorites for breakfast Blue Dog Bakery and finished the day off at Le Moo, a newer restaurant in Louisville that gives new meaning to the modern steakhouse. It was YUM!

Hope everyone has a relaxing end to your weekend and enjoys the 50th Super Bowl! Who’s excited about food, commercials, half time entertainment, and Cam vs. Payton? Can’t. Wait!!

Happy Sunday!

Drybar Grand Opening

With the grand opening of the much anticipated Drybar {now in Louisville} I want to share with you WHY you should go and WHAT they do that’s so great (and better than everywhere else)

A good hair day -usually- makes any day better. Am I right? Insert your Drybar stylist who is there to grant your hair wishes (and they come true and last 2-3 days in my case) YESSSS please.

At Drybar you’ll select from a “menu” of hair “cocktails” which is based on your hair style preference. I went with a Cosmo today and love it because it is similar to what I *try* and accomplish when I do my own blowouts (usually an epic fail).

Snow is Falling

The Alabama girl in me will always be a little giddy when I wake up to snow covered yards. I can’t seem to grasp this new normal for us in Louisville, KY. Being here a year has taught me that waking up to snow comes more frequently and I better be ready for it. I’ve been waiting to bust out these Sperry Boots – I bought them a while back knowing I would get plenty of use this winter (and I am!). My vest and top are old from Ellie and my necklace and bangles can be found on my etsy page under the “shop” tab on my website! Click Here to view.

Stay warm and cozy my friends, it’s 8* here today. I’m serious.

White Chicken Chili

Comfort food and coziness go hand in hand with cooler fall temps. We experienced a pop of cool weather this weekend so I broke out the crock pot and made my favorite chili recipe!

This white chicken chili is SO yum and one of my favorites of all time – but it’s spicy so beware. I make it pretty hot but it can be toned down for those of you who don’t love spicyness.

White Chicken Chili Recipe

2 chicken breasts

1 can corn, drained

1 can rotel (hot), undrained

1 can black beans, rinsed

8oz cream cheese

1 packet ranch dressing mix

1 cup diced onion

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 teaspoon each: cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper

1 tablespoon each: chili powder, pepper

Heat olive oil in skillet and add onion. Cook on medium for about 5 min, add garlic and cook an additional 2 min.

Set crock pot to low and add chicken, garlic/onion mixture, all ingredients with cream cheese on top. Cook on low for 6+ hours. Serve with corn chips and sour cream.

I love everything about this look! I just purchased these shoes and can’t wait to wear them all fall and winter. This look is the perfect mix of casual cute and I need this vest because it goes with everything! Being in Idaho this week has given me an appreciation of sporty pieces like these that you can wear over and over again. Happy Fall Y’all!

10 Styles to Get Your Hands On Now

1. Flare jeans – Trust me. You’ll look great and you can style them with many of the trends for this season: mules, 70’s anything, floppy hats. If you are pear shaped like me stick to a dark wash and avoid any distressing on the thigh. You want them to cover most of the shoe but not drag the ground. Opt for a chunky heeled mule or wedge to keep your legs looking long and lean!

2. Suede Skirt – One of the most exciting pieces to add to your wardrobe this season. The suede mini looks ultra chic and goes great with leggings and booties – OR style it now in warmer weather with bare legs and lace up flats.

3. 70’s – it’s time to get your groove on and snag some 70s vibes. Casual pieces are easy breezy and super groovy or a statement piece like a fabulous coat will have you stopping the show in your outfit.

4. Lace Up Shoes – I am absolutely loving the look of a lace up flat! This look also is great in a strappy heel. All eyes will be on you!

5. Camel Overcoat – Casually sling it over your shoulders for an effortless look. Camel and black mixed together is the ultimate combo for me so I can guarantee you I’ll be sporting this look all season long.

6. Leather – whether it’s shorts, a skirt, or a great moto jacket splurge on a leather piece and give yourself a little street cred. Opt for fake leather for a fraction of the price (check out H&M for great finds).

7. Long Vest – I don’t know what I was thinking when I let the perfect black vest go a few years back because it’s back ladies! Snag a long vest in a blazer material  for a chic look that goes from day to night. Looking for a more casual look? Pick a long vest in a ribbed material or gauzy fabric and pair with dark jeans and boots.

8. Mules – A chunky heel mule will make any outfit a little bit better. Instead of wearing booties everyday give this shoe a try- trust me, you’ll love the way they look and feel.

9. White – This trend was all over the runway for spring 2016. However, nothing is better than a white denim look – for fall. To keep the look chic add a dark handbag and camel, black or grey shoe. Perfection.

10. Mesh – cutouts and mesh were all over the runway this year as well so be on the lookout to add this touch to your next outfit. Whether it’s a mesh accent on a dress for date night or a mesh tunic (below) you will look great adding this texture to your outfit. Add leggings and boots to the look below to stay warm and cozy this fall and winter.
