I’ve Got The Blues

HELLO world! I’m back to blogging and I hope I’ll stick to a schedule this time so I don’t get caught up in the busyness and forget. So here goes…

I am loving this all blue look for a casual day outfit and these shoes are everything! I’m going to wear them all summer long-I can feel it. Old Navy is having a great sale *today only* with 30% off purchase using code “BENEFITS”. These cute mint sandals are the perfect find and pair well with jeans or a dress + the color goes with everything! I’ve already worn this top several times. It is a great piece to wear with athlesure styles or dress it up with fun shoes and light jeans like I did here. Both necklaces + the bracelets are available for purchase via email @ or through my instagram.

Depending on your style preferences one thing remains constant for the majority of us out there: we love a great deal. I personally love the style choices of an affordable shop. Today I’m talking about Ellie. Yes I used to work there and obviously it’s my favorite boutique, BUT when you can find great styles that look like they cost over $100 and can snag them for under $50 it’s a win win.

A scalloped detail is the perfect accent for this faux suede dress. A yummy camel color looks rich and luxurious yet it’s super affordable. Dress it up with heels and loads of accessories. Or- dress it down with a wool hat, chunky heels and bangles galore. PS: this hat is marked to $14 right now!

See how I styled it below + tell me about your favorite fashionable finds under $50!

Prepping for Fall

I went on a little shopping spree and found some great items that I know I will enjoy for a long, long time. I can’t wait until fall to wear these so I’ve incorporated them into my summer wear + gathered inspiration via Pinterest. Who else loves Pintest?! It’s the best…. Sort of like hoarding without people actually thinking you’ve gone mad. You can follow my personal Pinterest page here.

First I got this soft lightweight jacket at TJMaxx. It’s a beautiful grey color and has a drawstring waist. I love jackets like these because you can wear them now with shorts and booties and into the cooler months with dresses+leggings, skinnies+tall boots… Lots of options.

Next up I went cray cray at Old Navy – I love the grey sweater, black boyfriend top, green bag and tank (pictured under jacket). I didn’t get a picture of my pantsuit (on sale!) but I plan on wearing it with this grey cardigan – SOON!

PS Old Navy and TJMaxx are favorites of mine because their style doesn’t break the bank. What’s better than that?

Five Tips – Packing For The Beach

When it comes to travel I typically buy new items for each trip. It is fun to open my suitcase and know I have something new and exciting to try out while on vacation. Who’s with me? In an effort to incorporate old items with new I’m sticking to 5 key packing tips for my upcoming beach trip. Maybe THEN I will stop filling my suitcases with brand new items (tags still attached). It’s all about the classic, “old”, loveable pieces getting some love too!

1. Mix and Match

When it comes to swimwear know your body and your assets. Don’t buy that swimsuit just because ITS ONLY $30 $$. I’m so guilty of this and I’m striving to be better (Target, you get me everytime). I seriously used to have a limit each summer in jr. high and high school because I would go crazy trying to find the perfect swimsuit. Then I realized more is not more. Fit is where it’s at. So buy the bottoms you love and mix the tops (like I did below).

. Wear Fun Color

I’m notorious for wearing black, white, and cream. It makes up most of my wardrobe. But, when I’m on vacation I want to spice it up a little and add a little flavor. Color never hurt anyone.

. Know Your Climate

If it’s going to be cool at night but hot during the day, pack a blazer to wear at dinner or a cardigan for a walk on the beach.

4. Switch Out Shoes with The Same Outfit

Not sure what shoes you’ll end up wearing? No problem, just switch your shoes to mirror your mood once you get there. It’s easier to change shoes than to pack a new outfit.

. Packing The Right Accessories

You don’t need 10 pairs of sunglasses or 20 necklaces. Plan your outfits (including swimwear) and pack accordingly. I usually pack one pair of sunglasses that are aviator or wayfarer style and then a classic oversized pair. With jewelry I stick with basics and add a couple of colors for flair (turquoise is a winner) and wear a mixture depending on the outfit. For shoes I usually bring a variety because I never know if I’ll feel like heels, wedges or flats.

Shorts for Summer

It’s getting HOT as summer quickly approaches. I think I forget just how hot and how humid it can be in the south. I picked these shorts up at H&M along with this cute top that I’ve worn on a different occasion with denim cut offs. Paired with bold bangles and a handmade druzy charm necklace I thought this outfit was great for dressing up the basic shorts look for summer.

I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend!

Budget Friendly Style

I don’t know about you but I am all about a good buy. I love the feeling I get when I score a deal and on something that I know I’ll use time and time again. TargetH&MZappos/Outlet!, they are sure bets to get you a little more bang for you buck. Why does this matter? Wallet savers and budget friendly buys let you explore your style without making you feel like you dropped way to much cash on clothing.

Don’t get me wrong, I splurge every now and then. My top splurges are usually on a great bag, new watch or a pair of sunglasses. All items I can incorporate again and again with different outfits, seasons, and styles.

I found this adorable green dress at H&M. $12.95?? Are you kidding me? It’s so great because with just the right touch it can be dressy or casual. I need more dresses like this in my life because let’s be honest- it gets wayyyy to hot in the south during the summer. Paired with this darling belt from Target and pumps from Zappos (outlet saved me 50% off of an already great price of $49.99). To top off the dressier styling of this new dress I paired a few of my handmade bangles and gold watch making the accessories do all of the talking.

Layering with Herringbone

I love, love, loooooove black and white graphic prints. I’m obsessed with the color combo, the contrast of dark and light and the simplicity of the black and white color story. This herringbone printed vest is no exception. As soon as I saw this vest I dreamt up all of the different layering options it would provide: mixed prints, color pop, layered with scarves or jewelry or classic with chambray or a simple basic v-neck. I decided to mix this outfit up with my new, H&M sweater and a classic plaid button down – old from Old Navy . image
