Polka Dots

It’s time to talk derby. Louisville hosts the Kentucky Derby each year in May and with just three short weeks left until the big day I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite derby-themed looks. My dress is from Work the Metal and it’s the perfect derby look because you can wear ANY color fascinator or hat with black/white polka dots.
I have made several custom bangle designs for the derby this year and I love how they look together. From the “run for the roses” theme to the jockey and horse combo you can’t go wrong with these one of a kind bangles. Add in a little state pride with the Kentucky bangle and you’ve got yourself the perfect combo for derby day.

Where to find these bangles if you live in or around Louisville? (Or heading this way the first weekend in May)

Cozy Knitted Sweater + Distressed Denim

I love a good cozy oversized sweater when the temps start to drop. Mixed with black distressed denim from Old Navy (sold out, similar here) this new chunky knitted sweater was the perfect option for a cool weekend. We spent this weekend relaxing and enjoying our favorite hobby- eating. My birthday was yesterday so we had one of my favorites for breakfast Blue Dog Bakery and finished the day off at Le Moo, a newer restaurant in Louisville that gives new meaning to the modern steakhouse. It was YUM!

Hope everyone has a relaxing end to your weekend and enjoys the 50th Super Bowl! Who’s excited about food, commercials, half time entertainment, and Cam vs. Payton? Can’t. Wait!!

Happy Sunday!

Drybar Grand Opening

With the grand opening of the much anticipated Drybar {now in Louisville} I want to share with you WHY you should go and WHAT they do that’s so great (and better than everywhere else)

A good hair day -usually- makes any day better. Am I right? Insert your Drybar stylist who is there to grant your hair wishes (and they come true and last 2-3 days in my case) YESSSS please.

At Drybar you’ll select from a “menu” of hair “cocktails” which is based on your hair style preference. I went with a Cosmo today and love it because it is similar to what I *try* and accomplish when I do my own blowouts (usually an epic fail).

July 4th Weekend

I hope everyone is recovering from the long holiday weekend. This week will be a little bit harder (especially today! Blah Monday’s) because the July 4th weekend is now behind us.

I spent the weekend at the Old Fashioned July 4th Celebration in Crescent Hill. This was my first arts and crafts show and I had a blast! I met great people, sold my handmade jewelry to the community, and had an overall great weekend.

As we all know, this holiday weekend was not about watermelon, cook outs, red white and blue outfits and fireworks but rather about the freedom we all share because we live in the greatest country in the world. Because the great men and women who’ve laid their lives down and the ones who continue to serve this great nation- we stand and thank you for your service.

Yesterday at church we sang and worshiped while honoring those who’ve fought and lost their lives, those who fought in the past and those who are currently serving. It brought a tear to my eye because the red white and blue, the patriotic songs, the feeling of knowing we live in a free country. But freedom isn’t free, so thank someone for their service when you see them. Speak up about your faith and speak out about the God who is holy and almighty. Some people in other places don’t have that option.

We ended our weekend watching the Women’s Soccer Team take the victory over Japan. What a great game and an awesome win to keep the patriotic feelings flowing. Hope everyone has a happy, productive and wonderful week. Talk soon!
